Soul care has emerged today because many of us are awakening to the reality of disconnected lives running on “empty.” We survive, but thriving seems far off – maybe not even possible. As a person who has experienced several seasons of depression during my life, this song is an expression of some of the wisdom these times have taught me. It is a song of trust, resiliency and hope! We are more than our struggles.
Today is for living. Today is for giving.
Living and giving ... differently, openly
Earnestly ... COURAGEOUSLY

Mental health coaching is a form of strengths-based support for people struggling through a difficult season of life. Specializing in non-clinical care, coaches are trained professionals who can help with a range of conditions including stress, anxiety, anger, grief or despair, as well as offer support through life transitions, trauma or relationship issues.
Mental Health Coaches compassionately and emphatically seek to empower positive change -- helping people to manage symptoms, build support for recovery, and work towards healing and wholeness. It is action-oriented with an emphasis on improving one’s present life and reaching goals for the future. Through this process, Mental Health Coaches help people:
Through a holistic approach (physical, mental, emotional, relational, etc.), coaches’ partner with people to help them develop skills to overcome obstacles. Coaches provide fresh perspective for greater awareness that helps reframe thinking patterns, manage emotions, and address problems more effectively. Coaches also partner with other healthcare professionals when more specific clinical care is needed.

While a mental health coach and counselor both work to help you improve your mental health, there are several important differences.
Credentials. Mental health Coaches have worked through specific training and a certification program through an accredited organization. Counselors hold a minimum of a master’s degree in psychology or a related field, and must complete licensing requirements in their state.
Diagnoses. Mental Health Coaches cannot diagnose mental illness, although they can recommend that a client seek a diagnosis from a counselor or doctor.
Medication. Mental Health Coaches do not prescribe medication. They can refer a client see a psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner if medication may be helpful.
Area of focus. Mental Health Coaches primarily help their clients focus on resilience and skills for present and future challenges, while psychologists and counselors are more specifically trained to help clients heal from past and present challenges.
Your SOUL is the core of your truest self -- the real you in heart, mind, body and spirit. It is the center of our being and the place where we experience love, joy, hope, peace, contentment, and strength. Our soul is the home of all connection and wholeness.
SOUL CARE is the intentional practice of giving attention to our soul. It is about learning to live well and be well through the practice of integrating all aspects of human experience (spiritual, mental, relational, behavioral, vocational, etc.). Caring for the soul is making the connection between the vital and important aspects of our lives and living unified with ourselves and others.
A SOUL CARE COMPANION is someone who attentively walks with another during a specific season or experience of life. They share the ministry of presence -- of discovering and creating space with another to process, reflect, and embrace the movement of resiliency, hope, and growth in daily life.
